Thousands of dollars worth of weaves were stolen from a west Houston beauty supply store

HOUSTON -- Burglars broke into a West Houston beauty supply store early this morning and made off with thousands of dollars worth of human hair and the store's cash register.

The heist happened at Beauty Empire in the 12000 block of Westheimer near Dairy Ashford just before 3 a.m.

The owner described the security video to Eyewitness News. She said four masked men carrying bins broke in through the front door. She said they went straight for the most expensive weave on the rack. Packs of human hair are worth in excess of $200.

"It's the holiday season I know it's high in demand," the owner said. "It's just devastating for the business."

A driver, on his way to get gas, first spotted the break-in. He reported the burglars kicking in the front door. The man, who did not want to be identified for safety concerns, shared photos he snapped of the getaway van. He said it was a White Chrysler mini-van with a metal luggage rack.

Security video captured the heist. The owner said given the men were wearing masks, there's no good description of them. If you have information, call Crime Stoppers.
