NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A blood drive in west suburban Naperville was held Saturday in the name of a state trooper severely injured in a deadly crash.

Douglas Balder survived that fiery crash on I-88 in January when he and tollway worker Vincent Petrella stopped to help a stranded semi driver on the shoulder. Another semi slammed into them.

Petrella died and Trooper Balder was badly injured and had to undergo many blood transfusions during his recovery.
