TALLADEGA, Ala. -- An 11-year-old Alabama boy shot a man who broke into his home on Wednesday.

Chris Gaither says he was home alone when he heard the intruder come inside. Chris grabbed a .9mm handgun and met the man downstairs.

Chris says the burglar threatened him before walking outside with a clothes hamper in hand.

"I shot through the hamper he was carrying. It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby," Chris said.

Police tell local station WVTM the intruder will survive and will likely face charges.
