CHICAGO (WLS) -- Swapping out old light bulbs for more efficient light bulbs is just one of the energy-saving changes cutting the city's yearly energy bill by $1.5 million.

The city made changes, including the bulb swap, to more than 100 public buildings through Retrofit One. The program aims to cut its energy bills.

City officials said the energy savings are equal to taking 2,900 cars off the road each year.
