CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago flights are getting back on schedule the day after a ground stop halted operations at Midway and O'Hare airports for hours. However, there are still some cancellations and delays.

That ground stop, caused by smoke from an overheating fan motor at an FAA facility in Elgin, led airlines to cancel thousands of flights and delay even more. Thousands of passengers were stranded, some of whom returned to the airport on Wednesday to face long lines- and more cancellations.

As of Wednesday morning, about 100 flights to and from O'Hare Airport were canceled. A few dozen were delayed. Only minor disruptions were reported at Midway Airport.
