Chicago cop tells how he rescued suicidal man

CHICAGO (WLS) -- He says it's all part of the job, but one Chicago Police officer admits his adrenaline was rushing as he pulled a suicidal man to safety.

Over the weekend, Officer Fernando Flores got a call to go to a bridge over the Chicago River on Montrose Avenue, where a man was threatening to jump.

Flores quickly engaged the man in a conversation, hoping he could talk the man down.

"I said, 'My friend, whatever's wrong, we can talk through this and we can try and figure it out.' And he says, 'I'm not worth it.' I tell him, I said, 'All lives, all human lives has worth, has value,'" Flores said.

The man tried to jump, but Flores and a few other cops on scene pulled him back over the bridge. The incident was captured on dashcam video posted to the Chicago Police Department's Facebook page.

No one was hurt.
