CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago is launching a new partnership to boost recycling on the one-year anniversary of the city's Blue Cart Recycling Program.

To date this year the city of Chicago has collected approximately 80,000 tons of recycling.

Now the Department of Streets and Sanitation is joining forces with "The Carton Council," a not-for-profit group committed to reducing the environmental impact of cartons.

"The slogan for this campaign is, 'Every carton has a future. Don't throw it away. Recycle all of your cartons today,'" said Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Beginning the week of "America Recycles Day" on November 15, Chicagoans will see carton recycling advertising on CTA buses and trains.
