JASPER COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- The tornado in Coal City picked up a cancelled check and blew it nearly 70 miles away to an Indiana cornfield.

The check was written to Sears in December of 1974 and signed Mrs. Ernest Swanson. Her home was damaged when the tornado hit on June 22. Jeff Matthis found the check while checking for damage in a Jasper County, Indiana cornfield.

He has returned the check to Mrs. Swanson.
