HOUSTON -- A dangerous game known as "swangin'" might of caused a fatal rollover in North Harris County said investigators.

A 15-year-old girl died after the Honda Civic she was traveling in on Airline Drive rolled over and landed upside down. She was one of four passengers in the car.

Authorities suspect the 18-year-old driver was drunk and potentially high on marijuana. Sgt. S Wolvertson with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said witnesses reported the car swerving in and out of the lanes before the driver lost control and collided with a fence.

"Swangin'" is where people purposely swerve from side to side in their car. Wolverston warned this is the second time in two months the dangerous activity may have played a role in a fatal accident.

"It's a dangerous thing to do. Cars are 4,000 pounds projectiles going down the roadway," said Sgt. Wolvertson. "You don't just bump into each other and come out unscathed."

Wolverston said the driver failed a field sobriety test and now faces an intoxication manslaughter charge.

The three other passengers suffered minor injuries. Paramedics took one to Ben Taub hospital and the other two to Northwest Medical Center.
