CPD Officer resuscitates 3-year-old boy

A Chicago police officer was credited with saving a young boy's life on Thursday morning.

Police responded to a call around 7:15 a.m. about a three-year-old boy who wasn't breathing on the 5500 block of West Gladys.

Police say Officer Tone Trujillo arrived at the scene and began CPR on the boy.

The Chicago Fire Department arrived a short time later and resuscitated the boy. The response of Trujillo and other responders helped save the child's life.

"Makes me feel great, makes me motivated to come to work every day and feel that's what I'm here for, and I'm willing to do it every day," said Officer Trujillo.

"He was my hero as a young police officer. He really showed the future of the department by demonstrating what police work is all about" said Officer Jose Sanchez, Trujillo's partner.

The boy was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where he is in good condition.
