CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department will be doubling the number of officers trained on bikes in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Starting next week, the patrol division will expand bike training for officers and new recruits will also receive bike training at the academy in the coming year.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is investing $2 million in the city's annual budget to help the police department expand officer bike patrols.
