Daily Herald: Lake County's court service dog
Lake County has a four-legged member of the state's attorney's office ready for court duty.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Lake County has a four-legged member of the state's attorney's office ready for court duty, provided Gov. Bruce Rauner signs a measure into law.

Under the bill, therapy and service dogs would be allowed to accompany victims during court proceedings in cases involving abuse or exploitation of a child or for someone who is developmentally disabled.

Labrador Mitchell is assigned to the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center and lives with prosecutor Jason Grindell, a relationship similar to a cop in a canine unit. It's believed the Lake County state's attorney's office is the first with a dedicated therapy dog.
