GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- Two right lanes of eastbound I-80 have re-opened in Gary after a fatal early-morning crash.

One person was killed and another seriously injured after a car crashed into a tow truck that was towing another truck on eastbound 80-94 between Burr and Grant around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said a tow truck had broken down due to an electrical problem and was on the shoulder of the highway. The driver, Jamie Carr, 37, was picked up by Duane Yonts, 51, and the two returned later to attempt to fix the truck.

An additional tow truck arrived to tow the disabled truck. As Carr was outside trying to hook the trucks together, a 2005 Chevrolet Impala allegedly hit Carr's pick-up and went under the rear of the disabled truck, officials said.

Carr, of Crown Point, Ind., and Yonts, of Austin, Ind., were both uninjured in the crash. The driver of the Impala, 42-year-old Anthony Deaon Easter, Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
