ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- An Elgin police officer was placed on leave for comments he allegedly made on Facebook about the Ferguson, Missouri police shooting.

ABC7'S news partners at The Daily Herald provided a photo of Officer Jason Lentz.

They report Lentz allegedly wrote that the Missouri officer who shot and killed Michael Brown last month "did society a favor." At least 10 other posts on Lentz's Facebook page appear to have racial connotations.

The deputy chief says the post is inconsistent with the department's policies and values.
