Event marks Violence Against Women Act 20th anniversary

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez hosted an event at the Zhou B Art Center Thursday night marking the 20th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel spoke and ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter Evelyn Holmes was the emcee.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
