CHICAGO (WLS) -- A fundraiser was held Thursday night to help pay for funerals for four children killed in an apartment building fire early Monday morning in the Roseland neighborhood.

The victims were brothers and sisters, ages 7 to 15. The mother of the children, Shamaya Coleman, survived with broken bones after jumping out a window. Doctors say her condition is improving.

Her brother says he's grateful for the help of neighbors.

"It's great. I means it helps us to fill our heart just to know we have a lot of people in here that I really means a lot to me meet or seen," said Donald Connors, brother of survivor.

The event was sponsored by the Greater Roseland Community Committee, the Red Barons Baseball Team and the LES Social Club.
