CHICAGO (WLS) -- The mother of a Cook County Jail inmate who died over the weekend is demanding more information about her son's death.

Sheriff's officials said Angel Cruz died early Sunday morning. Results of an autopsy are still pending.

The 20-year old's mother says she was told he died of a heart attack, but she says his body was covered with bruises and even a bite mark.

"This is my only child, I want to know what happened to him. I'm not blaming anyone, I want to know the truth," said Leticia Vargas, his mother.

"The family came to us and showed me the pictures and no one will give them any answers but something does not seem right," said Gregory Kulis, the family's attorney.

Attorneys for Cruz's family said they asked the jail for all surveillance video from the jail and all hospital documents from his treatment.
