Bond is denied for a man charged in connection with the shooting of a 3-year-old boy.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A judge denied bail for Desean Wynn, 23, charged in the shooting of a 3-year-old boy on Father's Day in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood.

Now, the father of 3-year-old Devon Quinn, Desmond Bell, spoke publicly for the first time since his son was shot and paralyzed while inside a car with him.

He's taking steps to make sure the suspect, a known gang member, is convicted.

Devon Quinn's parents said Devon was an active little boy, who loved sports and playing with his toys.

"The good thing is he's alive and breathing," Devon's father said. "The bad thing is, he's paralyzed from the waist down. And he's only three. He didn't deserve that."

On Friday, the little boy's father, and community activist Father Michael Pfleger handed out flyers where the shooting happened in the 6100 block of South Kimbark.

The flyers advertise a $5,000 reward for anyone with information about the shooter. The flyers were being posted to ensure Wynn is not just charged with attempted murder but also convicted.

"So we are asking more witnesses to come forward, to identify both the shooter and accomplices that were part of this horrific act," Pfleger said.

The 3-year-old's father emphasizes he was not the shooter's intended target. He doesn't know who was.

"I was on my way to pick up his mom from work. And just, wrong place, wrong time," Bell said.

But now he says he's not afraid to return to this block. If it's to help police collect evidence and find witnesses to keep the person responsible behind bars.

Police arrested Desean Wynn on Tuesday. The 23-year-old faced a judge in bond court Friday and was told he would be held without bail. He is charged with one count of first degree attempted murder, one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of gun possession.

The State's Attorney said in court that Wynn is an active gang member with the nickname "Little D." The State's Attorney also told the court that the victim's father found a picture of Wynn on Facebook and used that to point him out to detectives.

As for Devon, ABC7 is told he cannot breathe without a ventilator and he is not expected to recover from his paralysis.
