FBI agents return to Schiller Park crematorium

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Federal agents returned to a crematory business in Schiller Park, the FBI said Thursday night.

It's the same business agents raided earlier this week, along with the Biological Research Center in Rosemont. Both have the same owner.

The case appears to involve the handling of human remains, donated for non-transplant and medical use.

The search warrants were filed under seal in Michigan, and may indicate this sweep is part of a multi-state investigation. In the last several months, there have been similar raids in Arizona, Michigan, and other states at companies bearing the same name, Biological Resource Center.

In May 2014, the CDC said it was investigating reports of exposure to HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, tuberculosis, and other diseases among workers at one of the body donation centers in Arizona.
