Firefighter exam hopefuls may turn in applications to CFD starting Wednesday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Fire Department will begin accepting online applications to take the firefighters entrance exam for the first time since 2005.

Online applications will be accepted through Sept. 16. It costs $30 to apply.

A written test will be administered on Dec. 13 and 14. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 37 at the time of the written test and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualified candidates must undergo a background check, drug test and physical fitness test.
