CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 14-year-old girl and a community activist were remembered Monday, two lives lost to gun violence in Chicago.

The steps of St. Andrews Temple in Englewood were packed with mourners who slowly made their way into the church for the funeral of Endia Martin. She was remembered in their tears and on their T-shirts.

"It's hard, and I really don't want to see her like that," said Mercedes Winfield, Martin's cousin.

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose made an appearance at Endia Martin's funeral.

Prosecutors say Martin was shot and killed last week by another 14-year-old girl who is now charged with first-degree murder. The two had once been friends, but began fighting over a boy, police said, in a feud that started on Facebook.

"It's just sad how these young kids is dying and this violence has to stop," said Stephanie Givens, Martin's cousin.

Community activist mourned

Meanwhile, in Chatham, another memorial service was held to honor a woman who was doing her part to stem the tide of violence. Thirty-two-year-old Leonore Draper died a week-and-a-half ago.

She had returned to her Pullman home after attending an anti-violence fundraiser when she was shot and killed caught in gang crossfire.

"Lee was involved in everything, not just here with Girl Scouts, but with her community," said Dr. Pamela Nixon. "She had a full time job, she had a family, but she was always willing to go the extra mile, to do that extra step."

Draper's relatives say she was inspired to make her community safer after the death of Hadiya Pendleton.

"We need to see more people like her willing to take a stand," Nathaniel Pendleton said.

Another memorial service for Draper will take place in her home town of Houston, Texas.

Police continue to investigate the shooting. So far though, no arrests have been made.
