GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) -- Six Flags Great America has announced a new opening day for its newest wooden coaster Goliath.

The ride will open to the public Thursday at the Gurnee amusement park.

Goliath will be the world's fastest wooden coaster with the tallest and steepest drop, plunging riders 180 feet down and taking them through twists and turns at 72 miles per hour.

Goliath's opening was delayed in May due to slowed construction as a result of Chicago's harsh winter.
