Green Beret from Elgin killed in Afghanistan honored at former high school

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- Staff Sgt. Adam Thomas, who was killed in Afghanistan this week, was honored by his alma mater Larkin High School at their homecoming game Friday.

Thomas, 31, was killed by an improvised explosive device, according to the U.S. Army. Officials said he was a highly decorated Green Beret with the 10th Special Forces Group.

Larking High School held a moment of silence for Thomas at their homecoming game. Thomas graduated from Larkin in 2003.
