CHICAGO (WLS) -- A parks advocacy group is planning to file a lawsuit Thursday in an effort to block George Lucas' museum from being built Chicago's lakefront.

Friends of the Parks says it plans to file a lawsuit in federal court on Thursday to make its legal case against the proposed museum site, which currently is home to two Chicago Park District parking lots south of Soldier Field.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office responded in a written statement: "We haven't seen the lawsuit and can't comment on it, but this museum will be treated like every other museum on the campus and be in full compliance with all applicable laws. This museum is a generous gift that will expand the rich cultural and educational opportunities for children and families in every neighborhood, and visitors from around the world. It will create good jobs, add green space to the Museum Campus and create new access points to the habitat restoration project on Northerly Island."
