CHICAGO (WLS) -- Environmental advocates are warning about pollution in Lake Michigan.

The group Environment Illinois says it comes from storm water runoff, factory farms and discharge from coal plants.

The organization is urging Congress to do more to protect Lake Michigan and other Illinois waterways.

Environment Illinois even tied the water pollution to Halloween, revealing what it calls "cringe worthy water facts."

According to the group, since 2014 overflows have sent 20 billion gallons of contaminated water into Lake Michigan. And that can be tied to several illnesses.

Environment Illinois also works for clean air and open spaces.
