CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teacher at a Chicago elementary school is charged with drunken driving after he allegedly struck two girls then drove off.

Matthew Lucchini, 26, of Naperville, faces several charges, including DUI and failure to yield to pedestrians.

Lucchini teaches physical education at Locke Elementary School, according to the school's website.

The girls - ages 7 and 14 - were injured Tuesday while walking to school in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side in the 3400 block of North Austin about 8 a.m. They are expected to be OK.

Lucchini is due in court March 2.

The younger girl was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition, police said.

The driver did not stop at the scene, but was taken into custody a short distance away, police said.
