House fire damages three homes in Fernwood

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One home is destroyed and two more are damaged after a house fire spread to two neighboring homes in Fernwood.

The fire broke out in a one-and-a-half story home near 99th and Wallace streets around 2 a.m. Wednesday and quickly spread to the houses to the north and south. Both neighboring houses are damaged.

While there were people in all three homes, all were able to get out and there are no reported injuries.

"Once I got out and saw the extent of that fire, yes I was very much afraid," said a neighbor. "I started shaking and everything but everyone was nice, we tried to console one another, but the main thing is no one was hurt."

Chicago firefighters quickly put the fire out. The cause is under investigation.
