A man who grew up in Joliet is among six Americans imprisoned in Honduras on what they say are trumped-up weapons charges.
Friends and relatives say Steve Matanich and the others were working on a project to help lobster divers. His sister still lives in Joliet.
"It's just, we're waiting. They can hold them up to two years. They can have a trial. We don't know anything," said Valerie Smith, sister.
The Americans were the crew of a ship operated by a Florida company.
They've been held in Honduras since May 5.
