Lake County man charged with possessing child pornography

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mark Galer, 55, of Lindenhurst, Ill., has been charged Wednesday on four counts of possession of child pornography and one count of reproduction of child pornography, according to a statement Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

The Lindenhurst Police arrested Galer after executing a search warrant on his home in the 2200 block of Valley Drive. The arrest was part of "Operation Glass House," Madigan's statewide initiative to apprehend the most active offenders who download and trade child pornography online, and is the 61st arrest since the program was launched in 2010.

Bond is set at $250,000. Possession of child pornography is a Class 2 felony carrying a sentence of three to seven years in prison. Reproduction of child pornography is a Class X felony and carries a sentence of six to 30 years in prison.
