CHICAGO (WLS) -- Malik Shabazz faces five attempted first degree murder charges in connection with a shootout that occurred in the city's Washington Heights neighborhood, officials said.
Shabazz, 29, of Chicago, was arrested after allegedly shooting two Chicago police officers on June 6, police said. He allegedly fired shots from the passenger seat of a vehicle that police attempted to stop in the 9300 block of South Wallace, officials said. The shots allegedly struck two officers.
Shabazz was shot after officers returned fire and remains hospitalized, officials said. The police officers had non-life threatening injuries.
