CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in the city's West Englewood neighborhood on Tuesday night.

Terrell Walker, 46, was struck and killed while crossing the street in the 6400-block of South Ashland Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. The driver of the car sped off, but the abandoned black Nissan was found two blocks away from the crash site Wednesday morning in the 6500-block of South Laflin.

"He was Terrell, you know, if he was at the party he was the life of the party," said Diedre McCray, Walker's sister. "For anybody who know him - to know him is to love him."

A security camera at a building across the street captured images of the incident. The building's owner shared it with police as investigators work to gather evidence from the car.

"The car was speeding past - I don't think he saw it, he saw the first one, didn't see the second one, and he wound up getting hit because the car was speeding," said Latressee Williams, a witness.

Walker was transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

Walker's relatives are trying to comfort each other as they search for answers.

"We're not pointing fingers, we're not placing blame, we won't know what happened until the person comes forth, just give us some closure," McCray said.
