Barricade ends without incident
A man who claimed to have a bomb was taken into custody without incident in Bartlett, Ill.

BARTLETT, Ill. (WLS) -- A 25-year-old unarmed security guard was taken into custody after barricading himself inside his workplace and claiming to have an explosive device at the Brewster Creek Business Park in Bartlett.

The man is a contractor at Rana Meal Solutions, located at 550 S. Spitzer Road, police said. Sources said he "snapped" after showing up at work at 6:40 a.m. Thursday and made a bomb threat.

Bartlett police and other law enforcement agencies responded. Police negotiators tried to contact with the man inside the building, but said he did not respond. Just before noon, they went in to search for him, and he was taken into custody without incident. There are no reports of any injuries.

The man is being sent to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

Adjacent businesses at Brewster Creek Business Park were evacuated.

"They said, we can't tell you what's going on, but we'd prefer you not leave your building," Alex Talbot said.

The entrance to Brewster Creek Business Park was closed, along with Munger Road from Stearns to Naperville Road. They have since reopened.

Bartlett police said members of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System searched the building for any explosives.

"We're losing a whole day," Mark Progar, neighbor, said.
