CHICAGO (WLS) -- Michael Torres, of Chicago, has been charged with attacking his physically disabled ex-girlfriend during a domestic dispute, according to the Office of the Cook County State's Attorney.

Torres, 54, allegedly strangled the victim, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, after she came to the aid of her sister while she and Torres were arguing outside of her home on June 29, officials said. The victim suffered injuries to her ribs after Torres allegedly knocked her to the ground, police said.

Torres allegedly fled the scene but was arrested after the victim called police, officials said.
