LANSING, Ill. (WLS) -- David Snelling, of Hammond, Ind., has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting at a Lansing gas station, police said.

Snelling, 23, allegedly shot Myron Parker, 20, several times outside of a BP Amoco gas station located in the 17000-block of Torrence Avenue on May 25, police said. The incident allegedly occurred after Parker confronted Snelling while he was committing an armed robbery against someone traveling with Parker, police said. Snelling then allegedly fled the scene in a blue Buick LeSabre.

Police found an empty blue Buick LeSabre less than a mile away registered to Snelling and found a semi-automatic pistol inside the vehicle after executing a search warrant, officials said.

Snelling was arrested July 15 while police were executing a search warrant for an unrelated incident, police said.

He has been charged with first degree murder and armed robbery with a fire arm.
