NEW LENOX, Ill. (WLS) -- Good Samaritans came to the rescue of a truck driver who somehow got onto the tracks Thursday near the Metra station in New Lenox.

Bryan Allul was on his way home from work and saw what was about to happen. With a speeding train just moments away, Bryan and several other people pulled the driver from his truck.

"And just asked the guy what was going on and at that point we all just realized there was probably going to be a train coming, so we just got him out of there. We heard the train coming and that's when we all kind of ran out of the way," he said.

Metra says it was an equipment train that smashed into the truck, so no passengers were onboard.
