Man dies at Naperville Ribfest

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A man died at Ribfest in Naperville Thursday afternoon.

The death happened in the carnival area on a ride called Pharaoh's Fury, a boat-shaped ride that swings on a pendulum.

ABC7's news partner The Daily Herald reports a man dove under the ride around 3 p.m. A witness told The Daily Herald that the ride apparently struck the man three times before the operator was able to stop the ride.

A source told ABC7 that the death appeared to be a suicide. Police have not offered any comment at this point.

Ribfest and the rest of the carnival continue to operate as police investigate.
