ROSEMONT, Ill. (WLS) -- A Rosemont police officer fatally shot a man while off-duty during a domestic incident in the 6200-block of Scott Street, officials said.
Joseph Caffarello, 31, was shot by the off-duty police officer on Wednesday just before 12 p.m. According to a statement from the Village of Rosemont, "The preliminary investigation reveals that the incident appears to be domestic related."
Caffarello is a former Illinois Tollway garage supervisor. He was featured in Sun-Times articles when he was fired, and won his job back twice.
The officer involved is Caffarello's brother-in-law. He has been place on administrative leave.
