Man fatally shot crashes into South Side bus stop

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died Wednesday after he was shot four times and crashed the car he was driving into a bus shelter on Chicago's South Side.

Police responding to a report of a crash near East 93rd Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue in the city's Burnside neighborhood found the 25-year-old man had been shot three times in his lower abdomen and once in his lower back.

He was transported in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. The victim's identity has not yet been released.

Police said no one else was in the car and no one else was hurt in the crash.

Area South detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.
