Man killed in crash on OB Stevenson near La Grange

HODGKINS, Ill. -- A man was killed early Wednesday when his car collided with a semi truck on the Stevenson Expressway in southwest suburban Hodgkins, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes of I-55 near South La Grange Road, according to Illinois State Police.

The man, who is thought to be in his 40s and was the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The truck driver was not injured, police said. Additional details were not immediately available.

As of 5 a.m., traffic was only getting by in the right lane while police investigated the crash.
