Man tries to smuggle gift-wrapped drugs

LOS ANGELES (WLS) -- Los Angeles man caught with illegal drugs disguised as wrapped gifts.

The 25-year-old man tried to fly from Los Angeles to Ohio earlier this month with some very unusual gifts.

The Transportation Security Administration said the boxes were actually filled with heroin.

The TSA officials discovered the drugs when the man's checked luggage was passed through the x-ray machine.

If convicted, he could spend up to 40 years in prison.
