Man wounded in I-57 shooting on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 28-year-old man was shot while driving on I-57 near Halsted Street on Chicago's South Side, Illinois State Police said.

The victim was headed north on I-57 when someone in a black Jeep started shooting at him around 4:45 a.m. Friday, state police said.

He was shot in the lower left leg and transported to Roseland Community Hospital, ISP said. His injuries are not life-threatening. No one else was hurt.

State troopers shut down the two right lanes of northbound I-57 and the Halsted Street ramp to investigate the shooting. Both lanes and the ramp have since re-opened.

No one is in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
