CHICAGO (WLS) -- City Colleges of Chicago will construct a new manufacturing center at its Richard J. Daley College campus in the West Lawn neighborhood, according to a statement issued Sunday night.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chancellor Cheryl Hyman will make an official announcement on Monday.

The 105,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing center is slated to open fall 2018, serving an additional 3,800 students, the statement said.

According to the city, "the transformed campus will connect Chicagoans with access to cutting edge equipment and industry-aligned curriculum to prepare them for the estimated 14,000 manufacturing jobs coming to the Chicagoland region."
