PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- Metra trains on the Union Pacific Northwest line in suburban Park Ridge were delayed Saturday after a vehicle crashed into the gates at a railroad crossing, police said.

A man was driving a Mercury Mariner south on Dee Road when the vehicle struck the railroad crossing gate structure, causing the car to roll over onto its roof, police said.

The man was transported to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Two Metra trains are stopped near the crossing, causing delays, as the car has not been removed.
