Mother who shielded son from bullets among those injured in Dallas police shootings

Among those injured in the Dallas police shootings Thursday night was a civilian who was shielding one of her sons from the bullets.

Shetemia Taylor, 37, threw herself in front of her children as they tried to run to safety. The mom was shot in her right calf, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.

The officers who were injured include Omar Cannon, 44, Misty McBride, 32, and Jesus Retana, 39, all mass-transit officers. A spokesperson for the agency said they are expected to recover from their injuries. An image of McBride can be seen below.
