INDIANAPOLIS (WLS) -- Public school teachers in Indianapolis will now be able to break up fights.

The change in policy follows a video of a recent fight in which a male student is seen punching a female student over and over.

The new policy approved Thursday night allows for limited use of force by staff to intervene.

Critics of the policy say it isn't specific enough and could force teachers to break up fights.

Administrators plan to work over the summer to refine the new policy and develop ways to prevent fights in the first place.
