CHICAGO (WLS) -- Illinois' flu season started a little earlier than usual this year.
Some schools have had so many students out sick that they've closed and brought in crews to do deep cleanings. And the most prevalent strain here in Illinois is also the one known for causing the most severe illness. All this comes just in time for the holidays as people are traveling, visiting family and possibly spreading the virus.
So what do you do if you get sick and how can you protect yourself from the flu?
Newsviews talks with Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health.
