NORTH CHICAGO (WLS) -- SWAT teams responded to a shooting in North Chicago in which three people were wounded near Lewis and Martin Luther King Drive.

The search continues for the gunman, police said, Thursday afternoon.

One victim was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical but stable condition with wounds to his shoulder and chest. The other two victims have only minor injuries. All three are believed to be in their 20s.

The shooting led to a huge police response.

"We were able to get some information concerning the possible offender in the case, and we cordoned off the area and we thought we were still able to stop him from fleeing any further," Lt. Tony Thies, North Chicago Police Department, said.

Dozens of police -- North Chicago, Great Lakes Naval Station and a Waukegan -- were involved in the search, which included SWAT gear, an armored vehicle, and K9 unit.

"We also had information from witnesses that said he may have entered a building. So on cautions of citizens, residents, other things, we wanted to lockdown this whole area until we could search everything," Lt. Thies said.

Police said they have leads, but no suspect in custody.
