BROADVIEW, Ill. (WLS) -- Parts of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) will be closed near the 25th Avenue viaduct for an inspection of the drainage area that flooded Tuesday, Illinois Department of Transportation officials said.
The inspection will cause some shoulder closures and potentially short lane closures near the drainage area Wednesday, IDOT officials said. Crews are aiming to find any blockages there may have been that caused the flooding, officials said.
The area flooded Tuesday evening after heavy rain hit the Chicago area, causing inbound and outbound closures for several hours. Lanes re-opened around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
