CTA Orange Line service suspended between 35th/Archer, Kedzie after pedestrian struck by train

Orange Line service is suspended between 35th/Archer and Midway due to a medical emergency on the tracks, the CTA said.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Orange Line trains are stopped between 35th/Archer and Kedzie Tuesday evening, the CTA said.

A CTA spokesperson said a southbound train struck at pedestrian at the Western Avenue station around 6:12 p.m.

Fire Department crews are currently responding to the station near 49th and Western, authorities said.

As crews investigate, Orange Line trains are operating in two sections, the CTA said. Trains are running only between Midway and Kedzie, and separately betwen 35th/Archer and the Loop. Shuttle buses are taking passengers through the affected area.

Passengers can also use the No. 49 Western and No. 62 Archer buses as alternatives, the website said.

Further details about the person's injuries were not yet known.
