Boy, 2, dies after left in hot car
Police say the parents were running errands and got mixed up on who was watching the child

PHOENIX -- A young boy is dead after police say he was left alone in a hot car in Phoenix, Arizona, reports TV station KNXV.

It happened Monday around 4 p.m. Police say the boy had been in the vehicle for more than two hours before his mother discovered him in the back seat.

Family members tried to revive the boy, but were unsuccessful.

Police say the boy's parents had been running errands all day and lost track of who was watching him.

James Koryor, 41, the boy's father, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Sheriff's officials said in a news conference Tuesday that the temperature was in the 90s Monday. One official said the toddler was able to do damage to the inside of the car in his attempts to get free before his death, which he called "horrific."
